Position Summary:
The Energy Auditor plays a crucial role in improving the comfort and energy efficiency of homes serviced through the United Community Corporation’s Weatherization Programs. This individual is responsible for conducting comprehensive energy audits, ensuring quality control, and training new auditors to maintain the highest standards of weatherization services for all eligible clients. A mandatory Energy Audit certification is required for this position.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Audit Execution: Perform detailed energy audits, including assessments of multi-unit dwellings, to evaluate energy efficiency, safety, and health compliance.
  • Documentation and Analysis: Take and document photographs of properties, items for replacement, and overall property conditions. Maintain accurate records of findings.
  • System Inspections: Evaluate heating and water heating systems for efficiency, safety, and operational status. Inspect electrical systems and verify attic insulation levels.
  • Safety Checks: Conduct health and safety inspections, including gas leak detection and carbon monoxide testing, ensuring the safe operation of appliances and heating systems.
  • Technical Assessments: Measure conditioned air zone pressures, conduct blower door tests, and perform NEAT audits as necessary. Assess the condition and need for exhaust fans, windows, doors, and insulation.
  • Project Oversight: Supervise ongoing jobs, ensuring quality control and compliance with standards while working closely with subcontractors and in-house crews.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and mentorship to new Energy Auditors, sharing knowledge and best practices to uphold program excellence.
  • Reporting: Complete and submit all required audit paperwork, reports, and checklists to the assigned operations coordinator promptly.

Job Requirements:
  • Mandatory Energy Audit Certification (e.g., BPI Building Analyst, HEP Energy Auditor, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in conducting energy audits, including multi-unit dwelling assessments.
  • Strong ability to train and mentor new auditors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and time management skills.
  • Understanding of home construction, energy systems, and weatherization techniques.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to safety and quality assurance.
  • Valid driver’s license and proficiency in English.
  • Experience using Hancock Software.

Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of basic energy auditor training and NEAT Certification.

Desired Characteristics:
  • HVAC experience is highly advantageous.

Environmental & Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work under various environmental conditions, including extreme weather.
