GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Worker's priority responsibility is driving UCC vehicles to transport supplies, equipment, and goods between sites. The position also performs routine maintenance, minor repairs, custodial, and moving tasks to keep UCC facilities safe, clean, and in good working order.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as UCC's primary driver: transport supplies, equipment, food, and donated goods between sites, and complete pickups, deliveries, pre-trip inspections, and mileage logs.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance and minor repairs, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
- Complete work orders promptly and report status and issues to the Facilities Manager.
- Safely operate and maintain industrial equipment, power tools, and lawn and snow equipment.
- Maintain grounds, including trash removal, landscaping, and snow and ice removal.
- Provide custodial support and assist with unit turnovers at shelter and housing sites.
- Move and set up furniture and equipment for offices, events, and food distribution.
- Respond to after-hours and emergency calls as assigned.
- Follow UCC policies and OSHA safety requirements, including PPE use and chemical handling.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of basic building maintenance and repairs.
- Safe driving record and insurable under UCC's vehicle policy.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently across multiple sites.
- Ability to communicate respectfully with clients, residents, staff, and vendors.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Lift up to 50 pounds; stand, bend, and climb ladders for extended periods.
- Work indoors and outdoors in all weather, with exposure to dust, noise, and cleaning chemicals.
- Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and on-call emergency response.
